Importing models created with IBModeler into other softwares
IBModeler stores the created models in it's custom file format (.mdl).
On opening this file, IBModeler displays it in a 3D space and gives a variety of
options for viewing it. Once you are satisfied with the
output model, you can export it to the widely popular 3DS file format.
Most 3D applications allow users to import a .3ds file.
To export the model to 3DS, open the .mdl file with IBModeler. After the file loads,
you will see a toolbar button labelled 3ds at the top left. Click on this button (or click on
Options->Export To 3DS file menu
option). You will be
prompted for the location to store the .3ds file. On clicking on "Save" the 3ds
file will be created.
Note that for the the 3ds file format, the texture
information is stored separately in an image file. So if the model uses
textures, the corresponding image file will also be created in the same folder.
