Without suitable lighting, it would be hard to get
a photograph in which the backscreen can be easily cut out from the model. Unless your studio setup
is set in the open in broad daylight with good sunshine, you will need some kind of lighting
equipment to illuminate the model and backscreen.
The lighting equipment need not be
very flashy. Good photographs can be taken with 60W or 100W light bulbs
placed appropriately in the setup. However the most important thing to be aware
of is that the lamp should only throw white light. Usually, bulbs give out a
yellow light, which gives different color to the backscreen while illuminating
it. There are a lot of bulbs available in the market which give natural white
light. Some of them are called as Daylight Lamps
Also,
it is better to use a pair of lamps instead of just one. This helps in eliminating shadows
being formed on the backscreen (see below image for an ideal depiction of the studio setup).
